Class Podiums For Puresims at Monza

It was a double podium delight for Puresims and the drivers at last weekends SCO 4 Hour Endurance race at Monza.

Our LMP2 team of Daniel Craft and Eric Grove managed to exceed their wildest expectations with managing to finish 2nd ahead of title contenders Team Redline and Yas Heat. Daniel qualified the car in seventh place and jumped up to 6th shortly after the start, pacing himself behind the cars infront Dan progressed up to 4th before the first pit stop. In the second stint though he ran down the top teams of Mivano and Redline seemingly managing to have better tyre life and a stronger car in the hotter conditions.

Eric took over for the next hour and a half and managed to fuel save and maintain a strong position of 3rd or 4th depending on the pit cycle. A bold call to short fuel the car led to Eric leading the race for five laps mid race, however on old tyres this was not sustainable. Pitting early Dan came back out on track in 3rd place. With fresh tyres and two full stints to chase down the front two. Dan managed to successfully catch team Redline on the fresher tyres and once they took tyres at the final stint our LMP2 team had a somewhat comfortable 14s gap to maintain for the final stint. Although Mivano were 25s up the road the team were ecstatic to get a podium during their SCO rookie season.

Our GT3 team of Daniel Ferguson and Ross Macfarlane managed to build upon their success at Round 1 to maintain the championship lead with a strong podium finish of 3rd. Ross qualified the car in second and was in a heated battle with the Mivano entry for the majority of his two hour long stints. When Dan took over the car he battled and temporarily managed to take control of the lead with over an hour to go, however a safety first call of taking tyres for the final stint led to the team finishing in 3rd place behind Maniti Racing and Mivano.
