19 Apr iRacing Suzuka 12hr Ednurance
The Pure Sim eSports 2 car competed in the iRacing Suzuka 12hr Endurance race starting this morning at 1am. David Baker took the helm and qualified the car on Pole, one second faster than the car P2. After a treacherous start dodging GT3s he settled down and by the first driver change the team had a huge lead. This was really the story of the race as now we could afford to take it easy on the tires and save some fuel.
Next in the car was the nightwatchman, Stuart McPhaden Jnr who put in some consistent laps in to add to the teams already commanding position. this was followed up by a solid drive from our resident American Andy Schiel just in time for the UK drivers to wake back up gain and take the reigns! Pete Newman jumped in next and was having a lovely Saturday morning drive when his Cat deceived to jump up on his keyboard, turning the mirrors off and sending Pete in to a bit of a panic trying to press the right button to turn the mirrors back on. He knew he got the wrong button when the engine cut out, after a bit of faffing he managed to fire the Audi TCR back up and was on his way again!
Matt Bunn took the wheels after Pete and had a good stint in the hot midday conditions. Next in the car was George Simmons who helped fill in with little notice, after a slight mishap with the Pit limiter he started the stint with a 40 second stop go penalty however by the end of the stint he had caught back up the difference and then some! Finally the ever dependable Jamie Rushworth had the pleasure of bringing the car home in P1 with a short-end double stint.
