01 Jun Puresims Esports had a fantastic debut in the SCO Six hours
Puresims Esports made its debut in the reputable SCO organised competition this weekend for 6 hours multi-class racing @ Watkins Glen Boot in the Honda HPD Prototype race car. Our drivers for the race were Dan Craft and Dave Baker taking their experience from previous championships in the car and testing it in this highly skilled field of sim racers.
Qualifying was a twenty minute hot-lapping challenge with Dan qualifying the team a respectable 8/18. Going into t1 however Dan had to avoid the SimRC.DE car who span under braking and narrowly avoided being collected in the incident, a few positions were lost and collected 10 seconds worth of damage through light contact however the handling of the car still felt good. Battling back in his first stint Dan overtook a couple of other teams and ended up stint 1 in 7th place after other cars had to pit for repairs.
Dave steadied the ship during his couple of stints putting in some solid laps and consolidating the team in 6th position whilst cars around us started to make mistakes. This setup Dan to chase down the SIMMSA black car for 5th position who cracked under the pressure. Settling into the 5th position the team managed to grow a comfortable gap to 6th place of 45 seconds before the final pitstop. Dave took over the reins and bought the car safely home whilst Mivano Sim Racing Giallo retired after crashing and CoRe SimRacing P were demoted due to breaking a regulation. This meant in the final hour Puresims Esports jumped two positions and finished 3rd!
A fantastic effort from our guys to finish so well during their debut race with the series. They are now looking forward to trying to qualify for the main Endurance Championship which runs over the winter later on this autumn.
